Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club is a full-length and full service golf club complete with driving range, fully stocked clubhouse, CPGA pro and a beautiful bar and grill.
Located right in the heart of Williams Lake this 6272 yard course plays longer than it reads on the card and offers some beautiful views of the city of Williams Lake, often referred to as the Heart of the Cariboo. It starts off with a wide open, down hill par four measuring 367 yards long. The trick here is getting past Moby Dick's gravesite. There is a large whale sized mound that runs left to right across the green and looks, to me, like they buried a whale in the first fairway. The green it is relatively large and open and makes for an easy start to a very nice course.
The number one handicap hole is number 9. A par 5 measuring 491 yards long, it is a dogleg right hole, up hill and heavily lined with trees. There is water 30-50 feet in front of the tee boxes and although I am sure it gets a belly fully of Maxfli balls over the course of the season, it is supposed to be decorative in nature. The green is an uphill shot as well and has a set of bunkers protecting it. Maybe with a well placed drive this par five can be reached in two, but the risk of hitting into the trees or the OB on the right side of the fairway may make you think twice about going for it.
The par 3 holes measure from 152-202 yards, and all ask you to hit elevated greens.
A nice course set in the heart of British Columbia's Cariboo gold rush country.
If you have the afternoon to play or are booking some vacation rounds call ahead of time and get your tee-time at Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club. Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in the Cariboo and one of the best. There is a small space for RV parking and just minutes away are all the major named hotels and Inns.
